This is a fine silver Butterfly Bush leaf, that I created then enameled with fall colors. from lush green, to yellow and burnt orange, this leaf is stunning. I topped the leaf with a cluster of gemstones, that includes peridot, Ethiopian opal, tsavorite garnet and chrome diopside. The carved peridot leaf rests in front. Strung on a sterling silver diamond cut bead chain in 18 inches. The pendant measures 74 mm x 23 mm, or just under 3 inches long.
There are earrings sold separately that co-ordinate beautifully.
The leaf is created by painting several layers of silver paste on the back side of leaves, then firing in a kiln. The leaf burns away leaving the fab leaves in pure silver. Then a first coat of transparent enamel is applied, then fired again. This happens several times to achieve the desired affect.
A note on precious metal clay:ArtClay silver is a recycled product that consists of fine silver particles suspended in an organic binder. The clay can be worked like other forms of clay, sculpted to almost any shape you desire. The product is then fired at an extremely high temperature, either by kiln or torch. The binder burns away resulting in a pure silver (.999) piece. The silver is reclaimed from such sources as 35mm film and medical and industrial leftovers. No strip mining necessary.
