The Green Man pendant, I have created here in eco friendly fine silver with 22k gold accents, is set with a green Nano gem (a manmade gem). The gold accents are done with Keum Boo, an ancient Korean technique of fusing pure gold to fine silver. Here, I have added it to the green mans' eyes and the leaves that drip from the pendant. The sterling silver handmade chain has emerald and chrome diopside faceted roundels, Hill Tribes fine silver beads and tiny 24k gold beads. I gave the silver an antique patina, then buffed up the highlights. The necklace is 18 inches long with a 1 inch extender. Finished with a sterling silver lobster clasp.
A note on precious metal clay: ArtClay silver is a recycled product that consists of fine silver particles suspended in an organic binder. The clay can be worked like other forms of clay, sculpted to almost any shape you desire. The product is then fired at an extremely high temperature, either by kiln or torch. The binder burns away resulting in a pure silver (.999) piece. The silver is reclaimed from such sources as 35mm film and medical and industrial leftovers. No strip mining necessary.
